The Decline of Christianity in the U.S.

George Barna, Direct for Barna Research Group, and author of Transforming Children into Spiritual Champions, has an urgent message of life and death for the Church America!  Because Christian children have not been a high priority for the Church, we’re losing the succeeding generations.  His research shows that by age 13 a child has formed most of his core belief and won’t change much after that.  Although 90% of 13 year olds say they are Christian, only 3% have a Biblical world view.  What does this foretell for the future?
Everyone who calls themselves a follower of Jesus Christ needs to help win this battle for the hearts of this generation.  A fatal pattern is developing right under our noses here in America that demands our attention as believers.  It’s a well-documented fact the percentage of Christian has been steadily decreasing.
Look at these statistics:
  • 85% of the Builder Generation  (born from 1910 to 1946) was Christian (26% of population)
Also called GI generation of WWII or Mature Generation
Builders includes the Silent Generation (born 1924-1944) Korean War
  • 35% of the Boomers (born from 1946 to 1964) were Christian (37% of the population)
  • 15% of the Busters (born from 1965 to 1975) were Christian (17% of the population)
  • 4% (projected) of the Bridgers, aka Millennial (born after 1977) [Thom Rainer in The Bridger Generation]
It’s now obvious the enemy is destroying Christian America; We desperately need a new strategy.
